Why I started writing about security
Security is a field that rewards clear thinking under uncertainty. The people who move it forward aren’t the ones with the longest tool lists — they’re the ones who can reason about risk, communicate it to people who don’t share their background, and make a decision when the data is incomplete.
This space is where I’ll work through those ideas in public.
What you’ll find here
I want to write about the parts of security that don’t fit neatly into a scanner report:
- How to think about risk when the threat is novel and the budget is fixed.
- Where engineering and security meet — building systems that are secure by design rather than patched after the fact.
- Leadership in security — turning a function that’s often seen as a blocker into one that makes the whole organization faster and more resilient.
Why in public
Writing forces precision. If I can’t explain an idea clearly, I probably don’t understand it as well as I thought. Publishing raises the bar further — and if the ideas are useful to someone else facing the same problems, even better.
